What is RSS? If you're a heavy Web reader who makes daily stops at 30 different websites, you can spend the first half of your day just typing in the web addresses into a browser, loading the page, and seeing if there's anything interesting to read. Armed with a feed reader, you can use a single window online or on your desktop to keep track of 100+ different websites (those providing feeds) at a glance, and in a few cases several individual sections of certain websites. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary. RSS is an XML-based format which allows web publishers to create and disseminate feeds of data, based on the content of their website. RSS feeds contain article headlines, links and descriptions. The feeds are updated as the website is updated. You can view the content of the RSS feeds using news readers (aggregators) which allow people to view feeds from multiple sources at the same time.
