The next transformation in Chevrolet Astro came about in 1990 when rear wheel drives were replaced with all wheel drive. These models had a towing capacity of 6,000 pounds which was just incredible. Moreover, the extended version of Chevrolet Astro was now 10 inches longer than the older version with increased seating capacity. These manufactured cars had power steering, air conditioning, stereo system and car accessories including cruise control systems. Anti-lock brakes were also introduced in these mini vans along with air bags for the safety of the drivers. Finally, the Chevrolet Astro got the much deserved new look for its exterior with a swanky dashboard along with smooth controls. New power steering which was speed sensitive was added to the new Chevrolet Astro thus improving the efficiency of this passenger vehicle.
