Marci Shimoff, one of the most successful self-help book authors for women, is the author of "Chicken Soup for the Woman's Soul", "Chicken Soup for the Mother's Soul", "Happy for No Reason", and is a contributing author of the highly successful book, "The Secret".
Marci isn't all about books, though. She never expected to be an author at all. She would rather speak, and has been on more than 500 radio and television shows, has written articles for popular magazines like "Ladies' Home Journal" and "Woman's World", and has been interviewed for more than 100 newspapers.
The Transformational Leadership Council helps millions of people throughout the world. Marci co-founded it and serves as a board member because she's so passionate about the motivation and development of others. It's been her lifelong dream.
Marci has known since the 1970's that she wanted to make a career out of professional speaking. Back in 1970, most people had never even heard of a career in public speaking. Why would anyone want to talk for a living? Marci wasn't discouraged, though. In fact, her father was the one who told her to do whatever would make her happy.
Happiness isn't found in success, as Marci would be quick to tell you. There are a lot of miserable people in the world who appear successful and perfect on the outside. Inside, they're longing for more in life. Money isn't the answer. Build success; build wealth, right? Build wealth; build happiness? Certainly not.
Have you ever stopped to notice how many rich people are using their money for the betterment of others? Sure, they may have a magnificent estate, a fancy car, a jet, or a number of other luxury items, but those things are just that: things. They can be destroyed by wind, water, and fire, and they don't return love.
"Happy for No Reason" is a book that was born out of the misery of others. One statistic shows that of the people on the "Forbes Wealthiest People in America" list, 40% are less happy than average Americans. Obviously money isn't the answer.
"I'll be happy when..." is obviously not the answer, either. I'm sure we've all been down that path many times before. I'll be happy when I lose 20 lbs? No, because losing 20 lbs means you have to spend money on new clothes, and spending money on new clothes means there is less money in your budget. Less money means more stress, so are you really going to be happy when you lose 20 lbs? No! People who are happy are only happy because they're completely content with the life they currently live. They're happy for "no reason at all".
