If you searchon the internet for information about rapidly rising prices for a barrel of crude oil to over $100 and rising, you discover that in 2004 consumers were outraged that the price had risen to more than $50 per barrel! Seems so long ago.
Now, the questions become “why are we allowing them to do this to us?” and “what alternatives do we have?”
For starters there has only been one bona fide oil scarcity and that was in 1973 and it wasn’t that the oil didn’t exist it was that the Arab nations cut us off and almost brought us down. For those who were not around at that time it was chaos. One of the most prevalent crimes in 1973 was the siphoning of gas…people ripping off gas from other car’s engines! And the lines of cars waiting to purchase oil would have stretched to the moon and back several times if you lined them all up!
If you think that there is a bona fide scarcity on this planet of crude oil then you have been believing the government too much. But even some congressman are telling the truth on this…
"America has no shortage of oil for the foreseeable future," House Resources Committee Chairman Richard W. Pombo (R-CA) said. "Washington has a shortage of the political will required to let American workers go get it.”
The largest concentration of the heavy oil resource is located in three states California with 42 billion barrels, Alaska with 25 billion barrels, and Wyoming with 5 billion barrels. Smaller accumulations of 1 to 2 billion barrels (in reservoirs over 20 million barrels each) exist in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas.
Listen, if you don’t think that there is oil underground in Southern California then come to Los Angeles and visit the La Brea Tar Pits! (kidding)(joke)
Listen up, we are being ripped off. And the twin crime to this situation is that we could have a new oil boom in this country any time that the government wanted to have one because of the number of jobs that would be created if we decided to go get that oil that is, quite factually, under our feet!
But for now, we need to cease being so dependent upon criminals and show them that “we, the people” are resourceful too. Were you aware that by adding hydrogen to the fuel mix in your vehicle’s engine you can consume around 1/3 less fuel to go the same distance and help the car run better in most every way? Well you can. And it is very simple to do.
