Would you like to work in Hawaii? Or Tahiti? Perhaps Australia, Thailand...? Not so long ago that would have been virtually impossible, but now with the advent of the internet and online employment agencies the world is your oyster. Never before have so many people been searching for jobs abroad and that is all thanks to online employment agencies.
Fire up your favorite search engine and search using the phrase "employment agencies" and you will find millions of links (9.8 million on Google at the time of writing). Just browse down the list and you will find many online employment agencies that offer purely local job searches or even offer the chance to search worldwide.
Jobsabroad.com is one of those online employment agencies that list jobs on a worldwide basis. Here you can find a job in virtually any country in the world for both long and short term contracts. They also list openings for volunteer workers on many charitable projects. In addition they offer valuable information concerning travelling, visas and related subjects.
Another great online employment agency hot.jobs.yahoo.com but you do need a yahoo.com account in order to tap its full potential. Again, it has a lot of useful job hunting information and is the base for a number of Yahoo user groups related to employment.
Monster.com is undoubtable the largest online employment agency on the net. Their choice of countries is not as extensive as jobsabroad.com but they do cover Europe, the Pacific Rim and North America and have a multi language feature. They also have a huge amount of informational material.
All these online employment agencies will let you post your resume online. After approval it will be placed in their database. This database is searchable by employers looking for employees. Usually your resume is posted by filling in an on-screen form but sometimes it must be attached to an email. When an employer sees your resume and likes what he sees, he will approach the employment agency who will then contact you.
In addition you can apply for any appropriate job posted on their website. This will also involve submitting a resume and possibly a covering letter. The agency would pass these onto the advertiser and contact you accordingly.
Choose your employment agency wisely before submitting your details online. Recently in cases involving identity theft it was found that people's details were gathered from bogus sites posing as employment agencies.
