There are many different ways to go on an adventure on your New Zealand travel. Hiking, cycling, trekking, and paddling are a few of the more popular, less average ways. However, to cover the most ground on your own schedule that works best for you, the best way to enjoy your New Zealand travel is a tour by car.
Many people enjoy their New Zealand travel by car driving through the Southern Alps. Here, you can gaze upon the magnificent glaciers and even explore a few with a hired guide. A great place to drive to while in your car is Queenstown, known as the adventure capital of New Zealand. Spending at least a couple of days in Queenstown is a good idea, to make sure you experience all you can in the great region. In Queenstown, along the Dart River, you can kayak, go whitewater rafting, or take a nice little quiet cruise to Milford Sound. There are also 4WD tours that can take you to areas not accessible any other way, such as the sites that were in The Lord of the Rings. In addition, Queenstown has many beautiful towns, wineries, and friendly locals that love to share their culture and traditions with tourists.
Other things that you can do while you are on your New Zealand travel by car are fishing, whale watching, and journeying through the Southern Alps. Touring the West Coast of New Zealand is one of the most popular ways that people spend their vacation.
Fiordland National Park is the largest of New Zealands 14 national parks. It is found on the southwest coast of South Island. The park encompasses everything from tropical forests to snow capped mountains to lakes and rivers to valleys. Some of the wildlife that can be seen in the park are dolphins, whales, rabbits, seals, and deer, along with many varied types of birds. Milford Sound is a fjord that lies in Fiordland National Park. With its perfect waters and stunning mountainous backdrops, Milford Sound has recently been named the #1 travel destination in the world by a leading travel magazine, and New Zealand claims it as the countrys single most popular tourist destination for New Zealand travel participants.
While you are travelling by car through New Zealand and along the West Coast, make sure to stop to appreciate the wondrous sight that is Mitre Peak. The mountain top has a distinct shape, which is where its name came from. The top of the mountain appears to resemble the mitre headwear of Christian bishops. Mitre Peak seems to tower over Fiordland National Park, and can be seen for miles away.
The Roads for New Zealand travel by car are in excellent condition, and in many areas, there is little congestion, few crowds, and the weather and overall climate is excellent for travel. Make sure that when you are planning your New Zealand travels that you include a self guided tour of the country that you can take at your own pace by car. It will be well worth it.
