Al lot of newbies can't seem to be successful at driving traffic to their sites no matter how hard they try. This is something I went through myself. I just couldn't seem to get it together. I was posting in forums and trying to leave great comment to eventually brand myself as an expert in my niche. I put lots of effort into writing great articles to submit to a few article directories. I submitted my blog to the search engines. I barely had any traffic at all and I was spending lots of time trying to drum some up.

After a while I realized that if I didn't change what I was doing then I was unlikely to find any success any time soon. I had to find a new way to get traffic. But I had already purchased a boat load of ebooks on how to get traffic (as well as many more ebooks on various aspects of internet marketing) and all of the information was starting to look familiar and almost rehashed really.

I spent long hours on the net just surfing for some solid info. I wanted something different. I kept finding the same kinds of blogs all preaching the same thing. Write great content, network at social bookmarking sites and build credibility, go to this forum or that forum...you get the idea. Funny thing I noticed after a while was that alot of these forums and websites were owned by the same group of people. All the ebooks I had purchase had links to all of these sites. It was like a big network that I didn't realize existed because I was a Noob.

As I finally began to wise up after experimenting with my own blogs over time, I came to realize that most of the information in the make money online niche is bogus. One of the most important things I learned was about traffic.

It seemed that all of these A-list sites talked of ways to get traffic from stumble and digg. What I found out though was that this traffic is damn near worthless if you are trying to make a buck online. The traffic is not targeted. They have no need. They are not at your site because they are needing anything. Compare that to traffic that comes from search engines. That can be traffic with a need. Traffic that arrives at you blog by typing in the search term "Cheap Ebooks on Understanding Adsense" are more likely to click your affiliate link ( an ebook about adsense) than someone from a social bookmarking site.

I call this a traffic secret because even though it's not really a secret that organic traffic converts the best, you never see this point being elaborated on on the popular A-list type blogs.

So the secret to profitable traffic generation is not to become a social bookmarker king or queen, but rather it's all about getting links to your blog! Anchored links featuring the keywords you want to rank for. You might not get that much traffic at first and it will just kind of trickle in. But this traffic is 100 times more likely to convert to a sale or click than any other kind of traffic.

To generate quality traffic you need to spend lots of time getting links to your site. After you post a number of times and build up your links, you will eventually get some page rank and you'll rank better for your keywords. If your keywords are super targeted, longtail keywords, then you just need to work on getting your site to page one or two. If you keep building links you will achieve your goal. Then you will have some real traffic that actually converts.
