1. Mahon
A day in Mahon; the islands capital, walking around this historical city, you can simply stop for a spot of lunch (some of the island best restaurants are in Mahon), and go shopping. Or visit one of the many cultural attractions; including the Museum of Menorca, the Xoriguer Gin Distillery, or Military Governors House. The architecture in Mahon is unusual and some dates back to early 1700s. There are a couple of parks which are pleasant to walk through with playgrounds for the children. The market in Mahon is on every day but Sunday from late morning to early afternoon it sells fresh fruit, vegetables, and fish, and some clothes and jewelry. It is a good place for picking up souvenirs of your holiday.
2. Aqua Centre Water Park
In Ciudadela the Aqua Centre is must visit attraction on your summer holiday to Menorca. It is open from May to October from 10.30-18.00 with varying levels of slides, and pools. There is a collection of fast food cafes, and a shaded picnic area. There are also lockers for when you are on the slides. Although one word of advice, you are not allowed to wear t-shirts on the slides so take plenty of water proof sun cream, as you are more likely to burn at the water park than anywhere else. All in all, this is a fun day out for all the family, young and old.
3. Horse Harness Racing
A very entertaining local sport in Menorca, so if you love horses you will enjoy going to watch the local dressage techniques, and Horse Harness racing. You can also go riding along the golden sandy beaches for a few hours on your holiday in Menorca, situated in the Hipodromo, Ciudadela.
4. Glass Bottom Boat Trip
Leaving the marina in Calan Bosch, and traveling around Menorca on a boat is a great way of seeing the island. The boat has facilities such as refreshments for sale, and toilets. They also stop occasionally for the adventurous to jump in the sea, cool off, and even snorkel. The local marine life is varied from barracuda, octopus, perch, and garfish (don’t worry the barracuda only come out of an evening).
5. Kids Goody Park
A family attraction can be found in Calan Bosch close to the marina, this is a good value for money day out. There are bouncy castles, ten pin bowling, trampolines, crazy golf, a soft play area, pool tables and much more.
