"Visitors travel to Youbou, British Columbia in anticipation of the wonderful sights and natural beauties that can be found there! The small town of Youbou can be found along the northern shore of Lake Cowichan on Vancouver Island. Nestled along this body of freshwater are some wonderful opportunities for outdoor and indoor recreation and entertainment along with many unique festivals that are also a lure to many tourists year after year.
There are many accommodations available for those that wish to spend a few days, a week, a month or longer! You can take your choice from RV parks, camping sites, bed and breakfasts, vacation homes, cottages, cabins, and chalets. Many of these fine accommodations are right along the waterfront, providing spectacular views for any guests lucky enough to find themselves in one! Whether you want to rough it with just your backpack or stay in a luxury suite with room service, you are sure to find what you’re looking for in Youbou.
The Youbou Community Hall is open for any events that you may be having while you are staying in Youbou. Visitors can also book the gymnasium if they want to set up a sporting event or for other indoor recreational activities. There are also halls available for banquets or conferences and catering and bar service can be provided upon request.
You may also choose to spend your time in Youbou lazing around the beach and catching the glorious rays. Lake Cowichan is the perfect place for windsurfing, water skiing, tubing, surfing, or just simply swimming. The sand is soft and perfect for spending the day building sandcastles or playing beach volleyball. If you’re just looking for a nice spot to picnic but can do without the sand in your shoes, you may want to head over to Spring Beach Recreation Site. Here there are lots of shady areas provided by the lush surrounding forest and picnicking areas placed in a beautiful setting.
There are plenty of other parks that are perfect for a day of fun in the sun in Youbou and in many of them you can even take part in some water activities. In Nantree Park there is fun for all ages as you can spend hours sliding down the adult waterslide or spend the day splashing in the water as you water ski or throw your line into the water hoping to catch some of Youbou’s finest. Arbutus Park is also a must-see and here you can enjoy a picnic while afterwards the children play on the playground. There is also a swimming area here with lifeguards on duty over the summer season.
August is probably the town’s busiest month as Youbou plays host to the Youbou Regatta. Travelers come to participate in the festival’s water sports, parades, singing and dancing as the rides run around them and there are always prizes to be won at any one of the many games that are set up! August is a busy time in Youbou but any time of year is a great time to travel to the best kept secret of British Columbia!
