Sun

The Sun Sign is what most people are aware of because it is easy to calculate so it is used most frequently by the general population.

The symbolism associated with this planet shows us how we consciously express ourselves - I liken the process of discovering our 'Sun' to the process of individuation as described by Carl Jung. Since the Rising Sign is calculated using the exact time of birth, e.g, the moment a person entered the world, then this point in the birth chart symbolizes the environment a person is born into. It can also describe the birthing process itself!

I use this point in the chart as an indication of not only what type of environment a person is born into, but also as a guide to how others first experience the individual.

Psychologically speaking, the Rising Sign indicates the type of persona (another term used by Jung) an individual has created for dealing with the world and others in general. In other words our Rising Sign is the 'mask' we wear when having to deal with new situations, people and the world in general.

Physically it can describe what a person looks like as well as the type of health issues an individual may face at some point in their lives.
