It may have taken you months upon months but you finally have been able to sit down and decide that it is a Pug that you would love to get as a new family member. Your heart is set on a Pug and only a Pug so now all you have to do is get ready for one to come home and then actually go out and find that perfect Pug for you. But where exactly should you go for the Pug that will become apart of your family? Most people turn to newspaper ads from breeders but some people do not like getting a puppy from a Pug breeder.
The people who do not like getting pups from Pug breeders each have their own reasons so they opt to go and get a puppy from a pet store. But what they are failing to realize is, that all puppies sold in a pet shop have come from a breeder. Therefore, the pug you are looking at in the pet shop came from a Pug breeder. The difference is, you are not able to approach the situation in an educated manner because everything that you hate about breeders is still there.
When you think of a Pug in a pet store you often see a puppy that is perfect and wholesome and while all puppies are innocent, not all will have the best behavior as some have suffered abuse at the hands of breeders. As sad as it may seem, not every Pug breeder out there is kind and in the business for the right reasons. And it is because of this that you want to avoid breeders but by taking away your own ability to view the puppy's surroundings, you are setting yourself up for trouble.
By going to an actual Pug breeder, you are able to look around and use your best judgment to determine if that is a breeder that you would like to purchase a puppy from. But when you are purchasing Pug from a pet shop, you are unable to see what type of Pug breeder the pup came from and you will never know what kind of treatment it had received. The pet store will not even be able to give you that information simply because they really do not know and most do not take the time to check.
So really, when it is time to start shopping for a Pug puppy, you really need to think about whom you want in charge of making sure your puppy comes from a stable environment. The pet stores are not going to care about what your personal preferences are and are not out for your best interest.
Only you can make the decision as to who is and who is not a good Pug breeder. Not all Pug breeders are alike and they do need to be examined before making any big purchases. If you do not take that time, you could end up paying for it in the end.
Any animal that comes from a home that was full of neglect and abuse is bound to end up with issues. This can come out later in their life as bad temperament, destruction of property, and violence like biting you or other animals.
But then again, if you really would rather put the responsibility onto a stranger, then by all means you can pick up a Pug at your local pet shop that got the puppy from who knows where.
