It wasn't that long ago that outdoor bbq grills all looked alike. Large black kettles that were rolled into a corner of the back porch could be seen next to virtually every home in the U.S., and anyone with anything different would stand out like a sore thumb.
Today, fortunately there are many options available to you when it comes to outdoor bbq grills, and not just in the look and size of the grills but in cooking features and options as well.
One of the reasons for the phenomenal changes in outdoor bbq grills has to do with safety. Those large kettle shaped domes of the past had their handle in the middle of that dome, meaning that you had to reach across a hot grill to reach it and open the lid. Today's outdoor bbq grills usually have their handle in the front so you can easily open the lid without danger of injury.
When it comes to the different types of heat sources for outdoor bbq grills, propane is one of the more popular choices. It is easy to light and clean, unlike using messy lighter fluid and matches, plus propane reduces the risk of flame flare-up. Another key factor is that propane is considered safer and when children are nearby and get a little to close to the outdoor grill then propane should be considered.
Interesting enough some outdoor bbq grills can be designed or selected that offer different types of cooking methods. For example a rotisserie that turns the food over while you can entertain your guests rather than hovering over the bbq grill. Another example is an electric powered water smoker. These types of outdoor bbq grills baste the food while cooking it slowly for that roasted flavor.
There are many different options available for outdoor bbq grills. Many come with an extra gas or electric side burner and warming compartment to keep some of your side dishes hot.
A few of the larger outdoor bbq grills have built in refrigerators requiring less trips back and forth to the kitchen inside to home. Why not add a sink as well!
While people are spending less on travel they do spend more on the home. One area is the backyard and outdoor bbq grills are perfect for people who love to entertain at home. With all these options for you to consider, you could end up with the Rolls Royce of outdoor bbq grills.
