Have you seen the new vending machine concept on the market? I just found it a few days ago when I was shopping with a friend. Since I had finished looking around before her I stepped outside to rest my feet and to enjoy a cold drink. This is when I approached a vending machine that works like no other I have accessed before.
I was immediately impressed as I had never seen this particular concept for a vending machine. It only gave out bottled drinks and there was quite a large selection of them to choose from. There was a number pad on it and after entering the number of the drink I wanted part of the equipment moved up and over to get it. During the entire transfer of the drink I purchased, the bottle of soda was never turned sideways or upside down. I was able to open it without worrying that it had been shaken up. All of us have opened a drink at one time or another and ended up wearing part of it. With this ingenious technology behind a vending machine though it definitely reduces that risk. While I was sitting there waiting for my friend many people came up to this particular vending machine to make a purchase. This is a location with many different vending machines but I noticed this particular one was getting all the attention. My friend laughed because when she came out of the store I didn't rush to show her the items I had purchased. Instead I wanted her to get a soda from that vending machine. She liked the idea behind it too. I guess the idea is starting to be advertised because at the movies there was a short skit with cartoon characters inside of a vending machine while a person waited outside for their drink. Vending machine owners that keep up on the industry have likely taken a firm interest in this new concept as well. There is the issue of cost when it comes to buying them though. Too many owners still owe money on their current vending machines so buying new ones isn't a reality right now. It would seem to me that with such an advanced piece of equipment there is more than can go wrong too. Repairing such a smart piece of equipment may prove to be difficult as well as expensive. I am sure these new vending machines are under warranty but what does it cover and for how long? I only saw one of this type of vending machine and observed it for about 25 minutes. With the traffic I saw at this site as well as directly to that machine, it would be worth it for vending machine business owners to conduct their own observation studies. They may find that this type of vending machine is exactly what they need to increase sales in areas where they have plenty of competition.
