Team Fortress 2 is the much awaited game of the 2007. It is the first person shooter game developed and published by Valve Corporation. However Team Fortress 2 is distributed by Electronic Art. The online multiplayer version of Team fortress 2 is managed by the Steam. It was released on October 10, 2007 and is available for Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (PS3). Team Fortress 2 is developed on the same source game engine on which Counter Strike: Source was developed. Only multiplayer mode is available for Team Fortress 2. It also comes bundled in The Orange Box. The Orange Box is the pack of five games bundled together which also include Team Fortress 2.
There are two opposite teams in Team Fortress 2, just like Team Fortress, competing with each other to finish an objective. Objectives to be fulfilled are defined in the game modes. Two opponents are builders actually named Reliable Excavation Demolition and Builders League United. The good feature incorporated by the Valve Corporation in Team Fortress 2 is the detailed statistics of the players. This is first time Valve has incorporated such a feature in its multiplayer games. Players are also rewarded for completing achievements in the Team Fortress 2. Team Fortress 2 features nine classes all taken from the Team Fortress. All these classes are playable. It also features 6 maps release officially. In 2008, many more new game maps for Team Fortress 2 would be released by the Valve Corporation. The concept for developing the game was formulated in 1998 as a mode for Quake but the development could not be completed until 2007. Throughout its development phase, Team Fortress 2 has gone through series of changes and modifications. The Team Fortress 2 version that we see today is the outcome of hard work done for almost 9 years. Despite of its late release, Team Fortress 2 met with high reception from various parts of the world.
