Dieting is far too often approached from the mindset of impending failure. Too many people have tried and failed so many diets in their past that they try the next new diet with the absolute knowledge that they will fail in this attempt as well. Guess what? They will.
If you think you are going to fail at this dieting process you will. "If you think you can or think you can't you will always be right", to quote Henry Ford. It's time to step off this vicious cycle of continuous disappointment and take time to consider why none of the other diets have worked for you otherwise you are doomed to fail before you even begin.
By not examining the causes for your failures you are sure to repeat them and without learning from your mistakes and moving forward with a positive attitude you are already planning to fail. Use every failure as a stepping stone to success and eventually progress will follow and you'll wonder why you ever failed.
There is nobody else who can take control of your eating requirements, ultimate goals and reasons for embarking on a diet. Only you can motivate yourself to do the things necessary to be successful and only you know whether you are eating out of necessity or to fulfil an emotional need.
At some point you must realize that it is quite likely not the diets that aren't working, but the fact that you are not taking the responsibility for the condition in which you find yourself. You are the only one that can determine why you are trying diet after diet and failing over and over again.
We are all responsible for our successes and failures in life. There are few better feelings in the world than for someone to notice and compliment your efforts and it is no different when it comes to dieting. There is only one person able to achieve those successes and ultimately there is only one person responsible for the failures.
A lack of instant results cause many to give up before they have given their efforts a chance to be rewarded, or the simple fact that no one has noticed. A failure is only a failure once you give up and giving your diet a chance to work you just might surprise yourself with eventual success.
If you have a problem with self accountability for your dieting plans, maybe you would do well to diet with a partner. Not only does this help you to set goals but also to meet and exceed challenges along the way. Having a partner is beneficial to both parties as they will be challenged and feel the need to perform better than if he or she were dieting alone. Encouragement is important, especially for those low points where previously you would have given up and maybe you will exceed all expectations.
Dieting success is possible with a determination, self responsibility and realistic goals. Holding yourself accountable for your stated dieting and weight loss goals will lead to lasting results.
