If you are new to the business of vending machines, you may be very happy with your level of sales. It can be a surprise though as winter sets in and your sales levels change though. They may soar and therefore you need to be prepared with the right supplies more often. They may dip though and this can affect your ability to maintain your business if you aren't prepared for it.
There are many reasons why a particular vending machine location would see an increase in sales over the winter. For example those outside of retail stores are going to see more business. This is due to people out there shopping for holiday gifts. They are going to be out there more often than they normally would the rest of the year.
Some holidays mean people already have what you may supply in your vending machine. For example Halloween is a holiday that generally ends up with people having an abundance of candy at home. They may take some of it to the office to share as well. It is very possible that this scenario is going to result in candy not moving from your vending machine very fast for the month of November.
Pay attention to what people are likely to end up buying during a specific time of the year. If the summer months are very hot in your area then you will need to stock plenty of juice and water in them. In the winter time though sales of these types of products generally wane. You may find you need to stock more soda in order to keep up with the demands of customers.
If you can anticipate such changes will be taking place for your vending machine, you will be successful. Pay close attention to the changing patterns of sales you aren't just scratching your head and wondering what happened. Some locations just aren't going to provide you with very good sales in the winter. This due to the facility being a seasonal location. For example a park isn't going to see too many people when it is two degrees out and the snow is blowing.
You need to keep your stock of vending machine items fresh all the time. You may need to cut back on how much you buy to adapt to slow levels of sales in the winter. You may need to buy more though if the machines are selling rapidly. Even if sales are slow you need to be checking on them at least once a week. You may discover that increased winter time sales means you have to go there several times a week though to prevent items from being completely sold out.
It is important to be prepared for such changes. You have to continue to be able to please your customers regardless of what time of the year it is. They way they will continue to approach your vending machine without thinking twice about it.
Not every vending machine is going to see more sales in the winter time. You need to be prepared for this by saving some of the money you make over the summer. Keep in mind that you want to have a good vending machine location that is going to have traffic all year long. If you have exceptional sales during the summer though you may find a given location to be worth hanging on to during the slow winter season as well.
