There is a Harvard study able to identify the genes responsible for the aging process. They have identified the NPT1 gene responsible in stimulating a second gene called SIR2 which has caused yeast cells in vitro(including experiments on fruit flies and worms) to extend their life an average of 40% longer. This is solid proof that this particular antiaging chemical works! SIR2 is directly correlated it seems to life-spans! The more SIR2 you have, the longer you'll live!

The French paradox essentially indicates that people in France who have fat unhealthy diets, also experience less heart ailments and related health problems and that is partially explained by addition of wines (rich in resveratrol) in their diets.
