Preventing foot pain is not always an easy task. If you have heel or foot pain, you may not even know why or where it is coming from. This makes it hard to treat it and prevent it. Heel and foot pain is very common in many people of all ages and there are so many different things which can cause it.
Sometimes it is as simple as wearing the wrong type of shoes or just standing for too long where other times, your foot pain could be caused by a more serious condition.
Using the tips below can help in preventing foot pain:
1. Don't go barefoot - Walking around barefoot, especially outdoors and especially if you are diabetic is dangerous because there are so many things that you can step on that can injure you. There are many dangers that you will not even see until it is too late. Wearing shoes allows you to prevent this.
2. Wear proper fitting shoes - Wearing shoes that fit properly is very important to help prevent foot pain. Shoes that are to small and wearing ones that are to big can do a lot more damage to your feet than you might realize. Make sure that you also wear shoes that give you the proper support for your daily routine.
3. Take a load off- Remember to take some time to prop up your feet, soak them at the end of the day and enjoy time without your shoes on. Your feet need to rest.
4. Hygiene is important - Poor hygiene can cause lots of problems for your feet. Protect them from fungus, germs and bacteria by always practicing good hygiene and by keeping your feet dry and clean. Be sure and change your socks as often as needed.
5. Protect and stretch when exercising - Before you work out or go for a run make sure that you stretch and wear good supporting shoes. Your feet have 26 bones in each foot and several muscles that need to be protected.
It is in your best interest to try and prevent foot pain so you do not have to deal with this problem later. It is always best to use preventive measures whenever possible. See your health care provider or a podiatrist if you do find yourself suffering with heel and foot pain. It can make your condition worse if you try and ignore the problem. Your feet deserve to be taken care of since you do stand on the most all day.
