Remember that a corporate credit card is credit - and you are going to have to pay the charges that are incurred on it. You can avoid finance charges by paying the balanced due in full. Look for low cost flights, rental cars, and hotel rooms so that you can keep the charges on the corporate credit cards as low as possible. Many organizations will offer discounts and rewards programs you can take advantage of to save money.

Generally the cost of these expenses will be taken care of with the arrangements made in advance. The biggest area where corporate credit cards are misused is for meals. It is a good idea to set a limit for the cost of meals on a daily basis for each employee when they travel. They can charge meals up to a specific dollar amount daily, and then they will be responsible for the remaining charges.

There is also the issue of corporate credit cards being used to entertain others. This many be part of the deal they are trying to seal while traveling for business so you should allow them to take potential business officials out for nice meals. It is a good idea for employees to get these dinners pre-approved so that you can ensure you have the budget for them.

It is the responsibility of accounting to pay attention to the charges on the corporate credit cards. All of the expenses should be business related and someone needs to make sure they are. You may want to require employees to submit log sheets or receipts when the travel so that everything can be accounted for.

In most instances you can get several corporate credit cards issued under the same account. Make sure the company offers you a way to be able to identify the charges made by each employee that has one. For those employees that travel on a regular basis they should be able to keep their corporate credit card in their possession. For those that rarely travel you should issue them a card to use while they are gone and then return to you.

By establishing rules for corporate credit cards you will be able to prevent major issues from arising. Employees should be well aware of the ways in which they are authorized to use corporate credit cards so that there is no confusion. It will also help to keep your expenses for travel as low as possible so your business can have more profits.
