The confusion inherent in the title should give a good indication of how confusing it can be to get good advice on the subject. Niche marketing is an industry full of erroneous information. There are key things you should have in place before you move on to the actual marketing of your niche of interest. It is my goal to discuss the key ingredients needed to develop a successful niche marketing business and alleviate any misnomers.
If you want to be good at niche marketing, you need to know how much time you are willing to and have available to spend making your initial mistakes. A lot of times, if you ask yourself this question, you may realize that the answer is in the question. The theory behind Ockham's razor is that the easiest of paths taken may be the best solution. In this case, I believe it is good to latch onto someone that has already made the mistakes you are prepared to make. Having a good coach to help you avoid the common mistakes can shave valuable time off of your learning curve. Plus, if you have a good coach in your corner, you don't have to remember everything to start. Having said that, you still want to learn as much of the subject as possible, but if you have a good coach, they will give you the key knowledge in order to get your feet wet sooner as they say. It is frustrating to go through something and realize that certain things were unnecessary in order to achieve the intended goal. This leads me to the subject of goal setting.
They are out there and you need them. How are you supposed to find your way around this vast internet industry without a map? Goals are the foundation of any successful person. Any person who has attained true success has set many a goals. If they say they never set goals, they are probably pulling your leg. It is important to know what goals to set and how to set them. If you set them and don't pursue them correctly, they aren't goals. Kind of like owning a tool you never use…. Is it really a tool?? Similarly, goals are ideas that have been implemented with purpose. As with any good goal setting, you are brought to the purpose of your venture.
Why are you interested in this? Do you want to make money? Is it because your neighbor is and you want to be like them? If you don't understand why you want to get into niche marketing, you could be in for a very un-fun experience. Your true purpose will define your mode of action. If you do this accurately, you may actually discover that niche marketing is not the plan of action for you. You need to understand this before you get started as this requires attention to systems and focus on the outcome. If you don't implement this ideal, you can bet you won't see the results you are looking for. Which in turn, the reality will be bleak.
Reality check… This is a business and no other thing. This can be a monster monstrosity or a dazzling diamond. You have to look at this niche marketing thing as a business so you can endure the speed bumps along the way. I cannot stress enough how important it is to know what to expect when getting into this as the more you know, the less of a bumpy ride it can be. Remember, knowledge is power…
Nothing in this article is new information. To put it visually, if you have a warehouse full of tools, you will only need certain ones to build a house. You can't build a house without a plan (goals) and it would be wise if you have never built a house, to hire a contractor (coach). You need to know why you want to build a new house (purpose) and of course how much is it going to cost and how much time will it take to build this new wonderful house…(reality check). The more you know before you get involved with your venture and especially before you spend anything, talk to people who have done it successfully before you. There are many great things that can come out of niche marketing and to have those as the focus after you get all your "building supplies" together can be a great living.
