I think one of the seeds of defeat for an aspiring blogger is having unrealistic expectations. When you first start out and decide to embark on that long hard jouney to make money blogging. It sounds pretty good at first though doesn't it? You know, you have you laptop with you at the beach just kind of taking it easy and making a killing blogging. Yea, that sounds good to me too. Too bad it doesn't happen like that.
There are so many ebooks out there that are selling the dream to newbies and taking advantage of them. Newbiews get excited about making big money just blogging. I think we could all get excited about making big money, especially from home where you are comfortable and in charge. All the ebooks tell you that you just have to know this secret or that secret an you will ge golden! Every new ebook has the magic bullet of an answer. The ultimate solution. A guaranteed way to make millions.
Sooner or later most bloggers find out that the dream is a lie. There is no secret to making millions that only costs you $47 to find out. I think most of us know that already but it is very easy to get just a little caught up in the whole thing. Especially as an enthusiastic newbie.
As if these ebooks don't do enough damage on their own, building up unreasonable expectations and selling the dream to countless noobs, you also have a certain bunch of popular 'make money online' blogs that are always showing off their supposed income. Of course they never show you how much they spend to earn that money!
So new bloggers tend to have unrealistic expectations about the entire blogging experience. I would like to set forth what I believe to be reasonable expectations for someone just getting into blogging for money.
First thing I want to mention is that it is easier to build a bunch of smaller blogs that each make a little money but when added together can equal a decent sum. But I digress...what do I consider to be realistic in terms of expectations? I think a new blogger can begin to make money in anywhere from 6 months to a year. It all depends on how long the new blogger follows the wrong advice before finding his way. Once you find your way I would say it takes about four months to actually start making money blogging.
The process is simple once you figure it out and it only takes time and effort to duplicate it. The problem really is discerning what information is good and what is not good. This is extremely hard for the newbiew (a link to my blog can be found below...and yes I offer the real deal, straight talk, truth hurts kind of information).
The only thing that is worse than spending an enormous amount of time trying to find decent and reliable information is actually applying the bad advice.
A newbie's best chance as far as keeping it simple and actually making a little money is to create an affiliate product blog. You just promote an affiliate product on your 'blog' and that is it. You can set up tons of affiliate product blogs because with these kinds of blogs you don't update them all the time, if ever, like you do with a normal blog. You just create about ten pages or so of original content and get lots of links to your blog. YOu keep getting links until you reach the number one spot in the serps. Simple but time consuming, yet this is the easiest way for a newbie to make money 'blogging'.
