Magnesium: Are You Lacking It?

This Health Article is Brought To You By - Lena Butler

While magnesium may not sound all that important because it is not a “vitamin” it is more important than you can possibly imagine.

Not only does magnesium keep your heart, bones and mind healthy, it also can reduce the effects of autism, help diabetes and limit the affects of anxiety disorders.

If you are lacking magnesium, there are a lot of symptoms that will let you know it. Some of these symptoms include:

- Irregular heart rhythm
- Muscle spasms
- Mood swings
- Depression
- Irritability
- Anxiety
- Tremors
- Weakness
- Fatigue
- Confusion
- Memory loss
- Numbness
- Tingling
- Hallucinations

If you are exhibiting any of these symptoms, you should definitely see your doctor right away.

However, some people in the earliest stages of magnesium deficiency may not have any symptoms at all. They may be on a gradual decline and hardly notice anything weird going on with their bodies until some serious complications arise like the above. But how can you tell if you are magnesium deficient if you have no symptoms?

That is easy. An at home wellness panel test should be able to tell you everything you need to know about the levels of magnesium in your body and if you have anything to worry about. A wellness panel works by detecting up to ten different substances. All you do is take oral fluid samples, send it off to the lab and then wait a few days for your results.

Using an at home test such as this can help you find out if you have a problem before you pay a visit to the doctor. With the healthcare industry on a steady decline, individuals have to take charge of their own healthcare and that means being forward thinking and testing yourself when you think there may be a problem afoot.

So once you complete this test and you find out you have low levels of magnesium, it is time to set up an appointment with your doctor. That way, you can go into the office knowing what your problem is. You will more than likely need to undergo another test to verify, but at least this way you can acknowledge what you think may be the problem from the get go.

By testing yourself at home on a semi-regular basis, you can monitor your own levels of various substances and determine whether or not you need to seek treatment. You can stop a problem before it starts and before it begins to manifest itself through symptoms! Now that is the way to go about staying healthy.
