This College and University Article is Brought To You By - Sam McKenzy

For some, college is where you spread your wings and soak in the knowledge for you to use later in life. It is where you get ready and prepare for life and get real life lessons and preview the world ahead of you. But for some, it is where you utilize your procrastination skills and see how long you can put off your work and still get away with it. Papers, project, and reports get pushed off till the night before the due date and the real battle starts at the stroke of midnight. With pizzas and sodas for fuel, you work yourself for the rough night to finish off the paper before class begins that day. Though it should not be practiced much, procrastination is a beautiful thing in college.

Procrastination is an art in some people's dictionary; to use this practice with excellence, you need experience, knowledge and it all has to be well executed to finish with brilliance. You actually have to have some knowledge about the subject that you have put off till the last minute to actually successfully pull off your last minute project and you must have done it a lot of times. Writing a ten page research paper the night before the due date without knowing what it is about will cause you a lot of trouble. But fear not, there are other means to finish your paper in time.

Prioritizing your projects would help because if you know your paper that is due will not cause a difference in your grade in both short term and long term, you can sort of do a half decent job at it. It is not something recommended to do, but for us procrastinators, we have to let go of things once in a while. But if you do not want to let go, there are many websites online to look at a sample paper relating to your topic, and it will be a time saver to read ten pages of summarized material rather than trying to read through couple of chapters in one night. Other neat references to look at are those theses on the shelves of your libraries. Make sure to only use it as reference since now-a-days, by a simple trick with search engines online, anyone can easily catch plagiarism, and a true procrastinator never plagiarizes because we get our job done at the end, not steal other's work at the end.

If you can't find anything online, though I highly doubt you won't, you can always ask the professor nicely for you to turn it in at a later time. Maybe bribe them with a coffee before class or say you had a death in the family and other junk you are used to tell them; just know which excuses the professor buys and look over because we know they won't grade the paper till next week.

Although procrastination is art, art is not always good in everyone's eyes, and it is in college that you learn procrastination will put you through too much trouble anyways, so try doing things earlier and ease your mind before the due date next time.
