I keep telling my pupils to be original and design their own products. These are usually their objections.
"But I can't write." "I don't have any ideas." "Everything has been done before."
But, I can show you a way to come up with your first product. Get an interesting person and interview him. See, its that easy. I'm sure you'll be able to find somebody who is very good in their field. You can then prepare a list of questions, about 10-15. Then schedule their interview at their convenience and record the discussion.
Now, before you counter with all the reasons why it will not work, let me cover the big ones:
What are the topics that make good interviews? Anything will do as long as someone out there will like it and pay good money for it. Do you happen to know a marketing whiz? Somebody who can explain about taxes without flinching? A photo bug whose shots are breathtaking? There is an endless list of people out there waiting to be interviewed.
Now, why would that expert agree to that interview? A market-savvy one would have already jumped on the bandwagon knowing the power of being interviewed by a third party. What if that guy has tons of customers on his email list. Then you'll be able to reach out to those people, even if you've never met them. These can be future customers for your interviewee. For example, transfer the audio from your home recording devices to mass-produced audio cds. Then you can split the profits with him. Or even better, sell it to him wholesale and then have him put the cds on his website.
I don't know a lot about his field. You don't have to. That is why you are the "reporter" and not the expert. All you have to do is guide the interview by asking questions that you or others like you would have. It really helps to send the questions to your interviewee ahead of time so that they are not caught off-guard and know where the interview is going. Also, you want to make sure that you ask about any products he is selling and give his website a few times. Ask if there are any questions that are off-topic. He may not want to reveal who his wholesalers are or how much mark-up he has in his products. Those are a few good presentation tips I share with my students.
If you want the fastest way to create a product on your own and start a business online, then interviewing others is the way to go. An interview each month should guarantee you tons of resources in a short span of time.
