InterContinental, Buenos Aires: The Finest Argentinean Hospitality

This Travel Article is Brought To You By - Kelly Renaul

Famed Argentinean hospitality comes alive in Old Town's Intercontinental Hotel Buenos Aires. This early 20th century style hotel is both swashbuckling and understated at the same time. The interiors of the Intercontinental present a tasteful symphony of marble and leather. The colors are soft and the décor deliberately muted. Suites look simple but sumptuous with king-sized beds and pillows that sink in comfortably.

A huge LCD TV enables you to view your favorite channels in French, English, Spanish and Portuguese. Large French windows make the room airy and you can view the sights of the amazing city below from your glazed ventana. The living room is a tribute to comfort and luxury with deep-seated sofas, an elegant study table, a TV cabinet, a CD player and in-room movies. The windows are large looking out to over the swimming pool, trees and foliage. Intercontinental Hotel Buenos Aires suites also boast basic amenities such as a coffee-maker, mini bar, bathrobe, hair-dryer, bidet, hamper, and scales.

If you are a coffee connoisseur, the rather large, roomy Café de Las Luces offers a wide array of the brew. Housed on the first floor of Intercontinental Hotel Buenos Aires, this exotic diner is where you will also find access to a large variety of fine wines and cocktails. Among the local drinks, the signature Dirty Goose happens to be the most popular.

For a more mellow dining experience the 1930's inspired Mediteranneo is on site serving savory Mediterranean cuisine for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Once you step out of Intercontinental Hotel Buenos Aires, you will find yourself within easy access of Teatro Colon, among the world's greatest opera houses. Known for its great acoustics, the theatre is presently undergoing extensive renovation and will be re-opened in 2010. Also nearby are the original Spanish city hall, National Academy of Tango, beautiful cathedrals and lots of both local and designer shops.

While in Argentina don't miss the Tango, which originated in Buenos Aires by signing up for lessons and following the session with a grilled Argentinean dinner at La Puerto Café. For a more sporty experience stop off at a leather boot factory for riding boots and head over to the Polo field for instruction and play. After, restaurant San Telmo will host a traditional Patagonian lunch. Any team sports fan will know they can?t come to Argentina and not see a soccer, or futbol, game for which the country is famous. Do it in style when you go, the Intercontinental Hotel Buenos Aires style!
