If you are familiar with saunas then you might be aware of the new kind of sauna that has emerged in the market place which is referred to as the infrared sauna. Unlike its traditional counterpart it uses infrared heaters as its heat source whereas traditional saunas use wood or electric stoves to heat the air.
The main focus of the infrared heater is to heat the occupants rather than the air. The traditional saunas heat the air, when in an infrared sauna the ambient temperature remains the same. As a result of this the infrared sauna uses a lot less energy to run, which today is a major benefit.
The air itself is not heated to the same extent that a conventional sauna is, so you can use an infrared heater no matter where you are. You can even use them outside. However, an infrared sauna will still have the same type of heating effect on your body.
It is common for infrared saunas to use enclosures even though they are not required in order to be effective. Many folks like the feel of the traditional type sauna and we are all familiar with going into a sauna rather than sitting outside with a heater. This of course would seem alien to most of us.
When it comes to infrared technology it uses a light frequency which cannot be seen with the naked eye. This is also known as infrared radiation or IR for short. This type of radiation is very different to that of ultraviolet radiation that can cause sunburn.
You might not know that you're already very familiar with infrared radiation, as this is how the earth is heated; in this case, the infrared radiation warming the earth comes from the sun. Even your body exudes infrared radiation. Enthusiasts of infrared saunas say that these types of saunas can give you even more benefits over a conventional sauna.
Both the infrared sauna and the traditional sauna are similar in that they cause you to sweat which helps to release toxins and impurities form your body. They can additionally help with other physical ailments such as arthritis. Infrared radiation is also said to have exceptional healing properties.
Those who embrace infrared radiation saunas say that infrared radiation can penetrate very deeply to the body's internal organs and muscle tissues. This can help toxins be released and help strengthen the immune system. This can also help burn calories and improve your complexion resulting in you looking younger and more vibrant.
