This article will show you how to measure bra size that as a mom you can pass on to your daughters and your friends. At every stage of a woman's life, from teenager to working woman, to mom, their breasts can fluctuate in size. These size differences for the most part will be ignored, as 80% of women are wearing the wrong bra size.
After doing some research on the subject, I found out I have been wearing the wrong bra size for a while. I am no longer a teenager and have grown with age, as we all do.
Determining bra size can be a bit of an eye-opener, as when you get it right, the new shape you have will be more flattering than when you get it wrong. Let's look at how to measure bra size whilst creating a better figure.
You cannot just walk into a shop, pick up a bra, try it on and know how to measure bra size; you have to have the right measurements to hand. Do remember that, as with clothes different brand bras will have different sizes too. I would recommend taking your measurements at home and then going the shops to try different bras, to find the style, fit, and comfort you deserve.
So looking at this first step of how to measure bra size in further detail, the first measurement we need to determine bra size is the band size. This is the circumference just under your breasts at the top of your rib cage. When you take this measurement, make sure that you arms are down by your side and the tape measure is not twisted. The tape measure should be close fitting and taken in inches. You will need to round the measurement taken here to the nearest even number, e.g. 33.5 would be 34, so your band size in this case would be 34.
Please do not listen to people who say that you should add two inches to this measurement, as they are wrong and this is not how to measure bra size effectively. In the 1930s they may have been determining bra size by that method, but shapes and designs have changed a lot since then.
The second measurement in determining bra size is getting the cup right. You need to measure the fullest part of your bust. If you are taking the measurement in the nude (as opposed to wearing a bra and taking measurements over it) drop down onto your hands and knees, so that your back is parallel to the ground, then take the measurement, around your breasts and back. You will need to round this measurement to the nearest whole number. Take your band size and subtract it from your bust size and the remaining inches will determine your cup size. 1 inch = A cup 2 inches = B cup 3 inches = C cup 4 inches = D cup 5 inches = DD cup 6 inches = E cup 7 inches = F cup
Now you have the measurements right, it's time to get to the shops and have fun trying on different bras. Get in the changing room, pop on a bra and have a good bounce around; if you bulge out at the sides, it's not right and the same applies if the bra is too loose, too tight or will not stay in place.
From doing these measurements and tests you will be able to find perfect fitting bras for yourself. Congratulations you are now an expert in determining bra size and can teach the other women in your life how to measure bra size too.
