We come across all kinds of entrepreneurs on the internet that have a hard time driving traffic to their websites. Some sign in to chatrooms hoping to find people that all of the sudden will be interested in anything, and others will send emails left and right trying to make the quick buck. The problem is because people advertise this way, they come off as constant spammers and the perception of them are horrible.

Annoying is the operative word. Most people understand that when new business people come online, they make mistakes and will eventually stumble into the correct approach. As a result, they will simply ignore the chatroom promoter, kick them out and with email, delete it without reading it. Once the promoter learns the correct ways to approach netizens, then traffic acquisition is easy and straightforward.

So, how do you reverse the idea that advertising this way is the correct way to proceed? There are a number of easy, non-annoying ways to get your message across if you take a little time to learn the ropes. For example, forums have been taped for years as a genuine source of targeted, interested visitors for your website. You simply need to find forums geared to your business and sign up and start answering questions and participating.

If your site goes into the capabilities of acquiring PC satellite television, then you want to find a forum that is relevant to that subject where people are engaged in discussions and asking questions about that topic. Join the forum and set up a forum signature that includes something like "To get timely answers to your PC satellite television questions...." with your URL listed. Make sure the signature is compelling enough to make people curious enough to click on it.

After you have joined the forum, start participating, answering questions, commenting on existing threads and giving useful information that is relevant. Avoid talking about your own website, just let it be listed as a signature which will appear at the bottom of all of your posts. In this way, your name is constantly being seen at the bottom of your posts, but you are not advertising your website. It is a subtle but very important difference that will make or break you in the forum arena.

It is really that simple. You can also test your signature line's viability by setting up two different ones, each leading to a different landing page on your website. Then you can look at your site logs to see which one is working the best. If you want to experiment with the difference between a niche forum and a general forum, have two different signatures, each going to your site and you will be amazed at the difference in traffic from each forum. The general forum will probably produce a lot less traffic.

Forum advertising done the right way can be both effective and provide long-term traffic to your site. It is also time consuming in a world where most people don't have much time to spare. However, just remember, if you join a forum and only post once or twice a week, that will still build steady traffic. The impact is immediate and can last a great deal of time.
