Very few wedding planners, wedding reminders, and wedding checklists mention your skin fitness, or any part of your physical well-being for that matter. You may be lucky enough to not need more than a little extra rouge, but for the rest of us we could benefit from everything to spray tan and waxing.
If you do need more than rouge, then this is your wedding day skin fitness checklist.
Direct sunlight: Avoid it, starting today Obviously, skin cancer and wrinkles are serious downsides to sun exposure, however, protecting yourself from sunlight is important for the big day too. Freshly tanned skin will shine in pictures and weathered skin is hard to disguise with make-up. Freckles and a sunburn will be obvious.
Facial: Schedule it four months out A break out could result from a facial, so you shouldn't schedule your first facial a few days before your wedding. Instead, schedule one four months out and then again each month until the week before the wedding. This way your complexion will be breakout free, healthy, hydrated, and glowing.
Six weeks out: Waxing Most of us need a good wax every six weeks. Like a facial, don't try it for the first time the week before the wedding. You could have a reaction to the products or you could be unhappy with the shape of your eyebrows.
Make-up trials: Four weeks out If you choose one of the many salons that provide make-up application for bridesmaids and brides, do a trial run four weeks before. This way you can photograph yourself to be sure the style and colors work for you.
The spray tan: Three weeks out If you choose to tan, don't use the real thing (see avoiding direct sunlight above) try spray tanning. Not everyone looks right with a spray tan so try it out at least three weeks out so you can photograph yourself. If you don't like it, then chances are the color will fade in time and if you do like it you still have plenty of time to reapply. Within the first 48 hours the color will come off on your clothes so be sure to schedule your session four or five days before your rehearsal dinner.
Know your products: Two weeks out Stick with your tried and true skin products and cosmetics. This is not the time to experiment with something new that could cause you to breakout or have an allergic reaction.
One week out: Get plenty of sleep The most obvious item on the checklist, but also the most critical step in skin fitness is getting plenty of sleep. Your fatigue will be obvious by the bags under your eyes and the lack of color on your cheeks so plan to get seven to eight hours of sleep each night before your wedding.
