Excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis has many causes. There are actually two kinds of excessive sweating conditions, namely generalized hyperhidrosis and focal hyperdydrosis. Both conditions focus on the excess sweating symptoms that occur in some people. What causes excessive sweating is brought up in both categories of hyperhidrosis.

Focal Hyperhidrosis
This is a condition in which the sufferer experiences excessive sweating in particular areas of the body like the armpits, feet, or head. There are genetic causes that play into the excessive sweating in focal hyperhidrosis. Excessive sweating that is mainly confined to one particular part of the body is a symptom of many different disorders. For example, one who sweats from their face while eating or right after has what is called Frey's Syndrome.
Excessive sweating is simply a symptom, what causes it is the actual problem. Besides natural causes, diseases and disorders cause excessive sweating. Hormonal fluctuations and psychological disorders that pertain to anxiety and phobias are known to cause excessive sweating.
Natural factors that may be what causes excessive sweating are high temperatures, thick clothes, fever, exertion, foods ingested and many others. These are also some common factors to what causes excessive sweating in people and these are conditions that can be easily manipulated to suit the person. These natural causes of excessive sweating can be changed according to the whims of the individual unless the individual suffers from a condition that says otherwise.
