It's really important to get the right kind of anti-wrinkle cream for your skin type. Read lots of reviews, certainly, because they are a good place to start looking for the right kind. But if you have oily skin (like me), they can make your skin even shinier, or if you have dry skin, you might still get white flaking. So getting the right one, is important.
For the longest time I avoided wrinkle creams because of the way they made my skin feel. I even avoided sunscreen because it too made my skin feel so oily. Though that didn't worked out so well when I end up getting sunburned. Even using creams that have SPF and made for oily still made my skin feel oily. One of the things that were stressed in wrinkle cream reviews was that you need to protect your skin, I just didn't for the longest time because I didn't like the way creams made my skin feel.
A few months ago I read in a magazine that suggested using a serum if you have oily skin. I thought I'd give it a try and I found an inexpensive serum that I absolutely love! Right after I use it my skin does not feel oily yet it's moist and soft. I noticed the difference right away after using the serum for a couple of days. I use it in the morning and before I go to bed. Using it in the morning keeps my skin soft making my makeup easier to apply and throughout the day my skin doesn't feel as oily yet still maintains that soft look. When I use at night and wake up in the morning I notice I have less sleep lines!
Another thing I like about the serum I discovered is the price. It's about $11 and comparing the price to others it's still a great deal. Some serums can cost up to $50 to $90 dollars! I found one brand online for $115!
Serums work great for me, but might not for other people. It should be designed for your skin type. A friend of mine also has problem skin -hers is really, really dry. She can't soak up a single spot of oil on those oil-absorbing skin pads. (I used to saturate 3 of them at a time when I was young! I'm now only using 2). So for her, a dry-skin cream might work better than a serum.
If you are like my friend who has such dry skin, you might need to use an anti-aging project that is designed for dry skin, plus you might want a good moisturizing cream as well. The best moisturizing creams for dry skin contain things like Chamomile, Geranium, Hyssop, etc. Look for alcohol-free moisturizing creams as well, as alcohol can be very harsh on the skin.
In addition to caring for your skin with a good skin-care regimen, you should take care of yourself in other ways. A good night sleep (your skin repairs itself best during sleep), exercise (boosts circulation and cellular repair, and encourages weight-loss), drinking plenty of water (helps flush toxins from the body, and plump the skin) and eating a good diet full of whole foods are vitally important to staying healthy, and keeping your skin in good shape. There are lots of other tips - google "skin care" or visit a library for more information.
All the steps you must do to keep your skin healthy (good skin care, plus, sleep, exercise, water, and diet) are all key to living a better life, that is long, healthy, and happy. Find the right wrinkle cream (read reviews, and trial and error are the best ways to go) and take good care of your skin. I wish I had started younger, but it's never too late to get started!
