Behind the Character of Sarah Connor

This Television Article is Brought To You By - Kelly Renaul

Sarah Connor is the star and heroine of the first two Terminator movies. In the movies, the character of Sarah Connor is a young Los Angeles waitress who is also a college student. She discovers that she is constantly being pursued by a very relentless man who also happens to be a cyborg killer. This cyborg killer is the Cyberdyne Systems Series 800 Model 101 Terminator and in the films he is played by the action star, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Sarah Connor has trouble understanding why this cyborg killer is constantly after her in hot pursuit.

The storyline becomes very interesting at this point when Sarah Connor is rescued from the Terminator by a time traveling soldier named Kyle Reese. After Reese rescues her he explains to her that in the future, there is an artificial intelligence called Skynet that is going to be created by those who develop military software in order to make strategic decisions. The military software program that is developed becomes self aware and takes over control of much of the military hardware in the entire world, which includes some very advanced and complex robots. The program launches a huge attack on all human beings with the help of the robots.

Throughout all of this there comes a man names John Connor who leads the humans to victory through a human resistance group called Tech Com. The victory is not perfect though because it turns out that Skynet, in one last desperate move, has researched time travel and sent a robotic killer back in time to try to destroy the family of John Connor before he can be born so he cannot beat them in their future fight to destroy the world. This is when we find out that John is the future son of Sarah Connor which is why the Terminator is after her, to try to kill her before she can give birth to him. Sarah Connor finds out that Reese was also sent back in time to protect her at all costs, but unbeknownst to either of them, Reese is John’s father.

Reese and Sarah have a very brief time together, but they end up falling madly in love with one another too. Reese has been in love with her and admired her for a long time, but it is only now that she realizes this. They share a romantic intimacy that results in the conception of John Connor. This story is full of every emotion possible so it is not hard to understand why The Sarah Connor Chronicles is so popular as a television series.
