Are You Killing Your Dog?

This Pets and Animals Article is Brought To You By - Alex Mc Ginty

Chances are you love your Dog. It’s one of the family! If it’s not well, or

we have to leave it while we go on vacation. We Fret. We would never do

anything to harm our pet. You would love to think that the dog food that you

buy for your dog would be they very best that the manufacturer could possible

make. If this was only so!!! Some dog manufactures are deliberately using

inferior contents in your pets food to increase profits. It’s time you knew

what you can do to protect your dog and save money as well.

You need to know what your dog’s diet should consist of. Then you can make

wise decisions. Your dog’s diet should consist of vitamins and minerals.

These can be supplemented, though natural is best. Your dog needs 45

nutrients to properly function The major groups of these are; vitamins,

proteins, carbohydrates and fats. Minerals and ample supply of water. These

nutrients have to be in balance and in the correct amounts, so they are

easily absorbed by the body.

Unfortunately, when we buy pre-prepared dog food, we can’t rely on the

manufactures to care enough what we feed our pets. Although some products are

supposedly protected by the FDA (Federal Drug Agency) they aren’t closely

monitored and some manufactures are decidedly dishonest with their pet food

products. Some have even used dead and diseased animals - sometimes even dead

dogs to supplement their products. I’m afraid it’s down to you to protect

little "Timmy".

What to feed your dog. Remember that your dog is a carnivore and its diet

should consist mainly of meat and to a lesser extent, grains and vegetables.

The packaging on dog food labels should tell you about how much protein there

is in the product but, it won’t tell you where the protein comes from!!!

Besides meat from animals like, beef, lamb and chicken. They also obtain them

from other sources such as: grains ,wheat and soy.

Dead and diseased animals should never be used period! Ingredients by

definition should be listed in order of amounts in descending order. You

should see meat in the first five listings. Any less than that, and your not

giving your dog enough protein . Give this product a swerve. Your dog needs

carbohydrates for energy but not as much as humans.
If your dog has too much carbohydrate in its diet, its food will take a longer time
to digest, which leads to an over production of gas and will make it’s droppings very smelly.

Don’t blame the dog, own up… Too much carbohydrates can lead to gum disease,

so cut down on grains accordingly.

There are two kinds of fats. Saturated (from animals) and polyunsaturated

which comes from vegetables? Your dog needs both and should be taken together

to supply vital essential fatty acids (EFA) that’s needed to maintain your

dogs health. If your dog doesn’t receive enough fat in its diet it will have

low levels of energy and could suffer from heart problems, obesity and skin

infections.

Vitamins are essential for the release of nutrients to your dog’s body. There

are two kinds of vitamins. Your dog needs both. They are water-soluble and

fat soluble-vitamins. These can be lost in the manufacturing process and may

need to be supplemented. Vitamin B and vitamin C are particularly prone to

the manufacturing process.
