My Personal Review Of LifeLock By Robert Gantt
Like anyone else these days, I hear about identity theft all the time. Though it seems to be on the rise, I hadn't thought much about it. Given how hard it can be to establish good credit, it's something we should all be more aware of; identity thieves are out there.
This point was illustrated for me by an experience a close friend had. Her identity was stolen and her life was nearly ruined! Only after a year of hassle and inconvenience was she able to get things back on track.
Everything you have can be lost if you become a victim of identity theft. Worse yet, most victims don't find out until the damage is already done.
Around this time, I caught an advertisement for LifeLock, which bills itself as the identity protection company. My interest was piqued by the CEO of LifeLock giving out his Social Security Number during the spot.
I think you'd agree that's either supreme confidence or complete lunacy.
Myself, I was curious and wanted to find out for myself which was the case.
Right on the company website is the SSN of Todd Davis (the CEO of LifeLock) there for all to view. Certainly, this is a man who stands by his product.
He believes in it so much he even stands behind his protection with a million dollar service guarantee.
According to the website if your Identity is stolen while you are a member of LifeLock, LifeLock is going to do whatever it takes to recover your good name. If you need lawyers, they are going to hire the best they can find. If you need investigators, accountants, case managers, whatever, they're yours. If you lose money as a result of the theft, they guarantee to give it back to you.
Whatever it takes, LifeLock will make sure it gets done and they'll spend as much as a million bucks to make sure you're taken care of.
I enrolled right away upon finding the cost of this service was a mere $10 per month. I felt better at once knowing I had this caliber of protection behind me. LifeLock even requested fraud alerts for me (I wasn't even aware such a thing existed!).
Fraud alerts are very handy. Once creditors are established with the credit bureaus, they must verify your identity before they can open lines of credit in your name, issue cards or increase the limits on your existing ones. This is a good protective measure from the risks of identity theft.
LifeLock will also order, and have sent to you, your current credit reports from all of the big bureaus.
As an additional protection, anytime something affecting my credit is attempted, I am notified by phone of it and asked to verify this. This really puts your mind at ease. My wife and I used to spend a lot of time shredding documents; now that we have LifeLock in our corner, this is no longer necessary.
LifeLock only costs about thirty cents a day; so if you're concerned about identity theft (and you should be), give it a try. The protection and peace of mind you'll have is well worth the minimal cost.
